Memory has been in short supply through 2026 as suppliers prioritise high-margin server and AI memory. This page tracks cited facts; we do not publish retail prices until we can source them.
Is there a RAM shortage?
TrendForce said on 30 September 2026 that DRAM suppliers continue to prioritise capacity for high-performance server products, keeping the overall market undersupplied, and projected conventional DRAM contract prices to rise 10–15% quarter on quarter in Q4 2026, a slower pace than earlier quarters (TrendForce press release (30 Sep 2026): 4Q26 memory contract price outlook).
The shortage has reached finished products: NVIDIA raised the DGX Spark MSRP from $3,999 to $4,699 in February 2026, citing memory supply constraints (NVIDIA Developer Forums: DGX Spark price change announcement (Feb 2026)).
Will RAM prices go down?
Not according to the latest forecast we have: TrendForce still expects contract prices to rise in Q4 2026, just more slowly (TrendForce press release (30 Sep 2026): 4Q26 memory contract price outlook). Contract prices are what PC makers pay suppliers; retail prices for DDR5 kits usually follow with a lag, but we have no cited retail series yet. Forecasts beyond Q4 2026: TBD.
